has faculty and staff members who conduct research in various fields of
astronomy, are involved in astronomy education, and in the development
and management of the observatories on Haleakala and Mauna Kea.
In addition to these users, CFHT is currently open for use by
the Tawainese astronomers, through a continuing collaboration on CFHT's new generation
of instruments that started with WIRCam. The Academia Sinica Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics is CFHT's main partner, but Taiwanese universities are also participating in this collaboration.
